- I have successfully installed Trumpet Winsock in a variety of situations
- including WFW 3.11 on both NDIS (using dis_pkt) and ODI (using ODIPKT).
- Everything has gone well. I just tried to set up a similar configuration
- (WFW3.11 with ODI) using Novell's latest 3.x client software and have
- encountered the following problem:
-
- Everything loads successfully and Trumpet runs without any errors. I can
- ping by name (so the DNS messaging is working) without a hitch. The
- trouble is that when I run FTP, a news reader or Mosaic, it starts to work
- then just hangs there like it is waiting for something. With FTP the
- directory starts to show up but stops at some point (always at the end of
- a line) but not necessarily at the same point. It looks like some sort of
- timing problem.
-
- I am guessing that the new Novell client is clashing with
- ODIPKT or WINPKT, perhaps the 0x69 vector. I have been unable to
- successfully load WINPKT with anything other than vector 0x69. When I
- specify a different vector to ODIPKT, WINPKT reports that there is no
- packet driver there. Has anyone found a solution to this problem or is
- the whole thing just my imagination?

- Hi Harry,
-
- I think you might have hit a nerve here! ;-) ;-) ;-)
-
- Reading all these "standard problem" descriptions on this
- list is getting...ummmm...either hypnotic or addictive,
- ...not sure I can tell which anymore! :-) :-) :-)
-
- Seriously, folks, keep up all the good work...on both
- sides of the lectern!

- Try doing an ARCHIE search for "xwindemo.zip". The documentation is poor but
- the program itself is fairly straighforward. It allows you to run X
- applications using Program Manager is your window manager but also is capable
- of running a remote window manager such as mwm, twm, etc.
